Why So Many Mobilized Troops in Washington D.C.?

As of today, the United States military has only 2,500 military troops in Afghanistan. Also as of today, it is being reported that there are currently over 20,000 troops in Washington D.C., and the number is apparently growing. Must be a dangerous place for a true American to be. Here’s a timeline of the growing troop deployment in Washington D.C..
