Where Snowmobiles Came From or Fords on Snowshoes
I did not realize, until today, that snowmobiles first came on the scene in 1917 when Virgil D. White, a Ford dealer in Ossipee, NH, converted a Model T into a snowmobile, patenting both the term snowmobile, and the conversion kits he made for the conversion. He sold over 25,000 of the conversion kits. Interesting article, with photos and some videos linked below. Pretty cool. Thanks to my U.P. friend for the heads up.
